Family Overview
The D-Thread family of inserts and tool holders were originally developed in order to enable the cutting of threads in deep parts. The multi-insert holders allow for improved productivity.
Features:
- A wide range of threads supported (60°-based and 55°-based)
- Both standard and U-type inserts available
- Each insert and tool holder can be used for external and internal threads
Our range of D-Thread tools consists of the following lines:
THREADING INSERTS (PARTIAL PROFILE)
Partial profile thread milling inserts, for use only with the D-Thread tool holders.
Features:
- Three cutting edges on each insert (reduces tooling costs)
Carbide Grade(s):
THREADING INSERTS (PARTIAL PROFILE, U-TYPE)
U-Type partial profile thread milling inserts, for use with the D-Thread tool holders. These inserts differ from the standard ones by offering support for threads with larger pitches (made possible by the altered geometries).
Features:
- Three cutting edges on each insert (reduces tooling costs)

TOOL HOLDERS FOR STANDARD INSERTS
Tool holders for machining long threads using the standard, partial-profile D-Thread inserts. These tool holders have an internal coolant bore.
Features:
- 3 inserts per holder
- Holders allow for a long overhang
Note:
- Not compatible with U-type D-Thread inserts
TOOL HOLDERS FOR U-TYPE INSERTS
Tool holders for machining long threads using the U-type, partial-profile D-Thread inserts. These tool holders have an internal coolant bore.
Features:
- 1-4 inserts per holder
- Holders allow for a long overhang
Notes:
- Not compatible with standard D-Thread inserts
- For SR0580M11U, the thread pitch is restricted to:
10-9 TPI (60° / Internal), 12-10 TPI (60° / External), 12-9 TPI (55°) - For SR0810M11U, the thread pitch is restricted to:
10-8 TPI (60° / Internal), 12-9 TPI (60° / External), 12-9 TPI (55°)
SHELL MILL HOLDERS
Shell mill tool holders for machining long threads using the U-type, partial-profile D-Thread inserts.
Features:
- 5 inserts per holder
Notes:
- Currently, only 16U-sized U-type inserts are supported
- Not compatible with standard D-Thread inserts
