Family Overview

The DSI tool family is comprised of double-sided threading inserts. Each insert has as many as 6 cutting edges, which makes the tool family highly cost-effective, enabling substantial savings on tooling costs.

Features:

THREADING INSERTS (PARTIAL PROFILE)

Partial profile “U-Style” thread turning inserts, compatible with a wide range of thread profiles and pitches.

Features:

  • Compatible with 60° and 55° profiles
  • Each insert can be used for both right-hand and left-hand threads
  • Simple insert mounting and cutting edge indexing

Carbide Grade(s):

PVD TiALN coated sub-micrograin grade for stainless steels and exotic materials, at medium to high cutting speeds (P20-P40, K20-K30)
PVD TiN coated micrograin for free cutting untreated alloy steels (below 30 HRC), stainless steels, and cast iron (K10-K20, P10-P25)

THREADING INSERTS (FULL PROFILE)

A product line of full-profile, double-sided thread turning inserts.

Features:

  • Each insert can be used for both right-hand and left-hand threads
  • Simple insert mounting and cutting edge indexing

Carbide Grade(s):

PVD TiALN coated sub-micrograin grade for stainless steels and exotic materials, at medium to high cutting speeds (P20-P40, K20-K30)
PVD TiN coated micrograin for free cutting untreated alloy steels (below 30 HRC), stainless steels, and cast iron (K10-K20, P10-P25)

HEAVY DUTY EXTERNAL TOOL HOLDERS

A product line of heavy duty tool holders for use in external threads. These rigid holders were specially designed for use with DSI inserts.

INTERNAL TOOL HOLDERS

Tool holders for cutting internal threads using the DSI (double-sided) thread turning inserts. These holders have an internal coolant bore. This improves the tools performance, and extends its tool life.
